Baseball Game Preview: Cosby Titans vs. Deep Run Wildcats

The Cosby Titans will take on the Deep Run Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Cosby 4.1, Deep Run 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Thursday, Cosby didn't have quite enough to beat Powhatan and fell 6-5.

Meanwhile, Deep Run faced Godwin in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 6-4. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Parker Noonan was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Carson Strieffler made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Cosby's loss dropped their record down to 6-3-1. As for Deep Run, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.

Everything went Cosby's way against Deep Run in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Cosby made off with a 10-3 victory. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
