Evan Mytril and Brandon Nu?ez were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Mytril pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Nu?ez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. What's more, he also gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February of 2024. At bat, Mytril scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Nu?ez scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Nu?ez a new career-high in RBI (three).
In other batting news, Hector Sosa was a standout: he went a perfect1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stolen at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Jeremy Fornos was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Immaculata-La Salle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Miami Country Day only posted a batting average of .312.
Meanwhile, St. Brendan didn't have quite enough to beat Doral Academy on Wednesday and fell 6-4. The Sabres have struggled against the Firebirds recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
St. Brendan saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jan Perez Fernandez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Immaculata-La Salle's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs over those games. As for St. Brendan, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Both Immaculata-La Salle and St. Brendan just can't seem to miss. Immaculata-La Salle has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. However, it's not like St. Brendan struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Immaculata-La Salle came up short against St. Brendan in their previous matchup back in April of 2021, falling 11-8. Can Immaculata-La Salle avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
