Softball Recap: Perry-Lecompton Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

Perry-Lecompton won against Riley County on Monday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Kaws came out on top against the Hiawatha Red Hawks by a score of 6-3. For the Kaws, this counts as revenge for the 10-6 win the Red Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Olivia Hart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Macie Corcoran, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, one run, and one RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ziva Rockhold, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.

Perry-Lecompton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Perry-Lecompton is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hiawatha, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hiawatha beat Perry-Lecompton by a score of 4-2 later that day.
