Baseball Game Preview: Landstown Eagles vs. Bayside Marlins

Landstown is 8-2 against Bayside since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Eagles will head out to challenge the Marlins at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Landstown made easy work of Princess Anne and carried off a 10-2 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Ethyn Edwards made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Edwards wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dawson Hogan, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double. Landstown is undefeated when Hogan posts two or more runs, but 5-9 otherwise. Ben Chevalier was another, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Landstown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Princess Anne only posted a batting average of .077.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bayside, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Salem 3-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Marlins as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Landstown now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Bayside, their record now sits at 7-10.

Everything went Landstown's way against Bayside in their previous meeting back in March, as Landstown made off with a 13-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
