League recap: Discovery Canyon extends winning streak with victory over Mitchell

Discovery Canyon added to the longest winning streak in 3A South Central this week by beating Mitchell, 50-0. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.

The Marauders lost to Discovery Canyon 50-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Austin Micci was a passing and rushing force as Coronado defeated Woodland Park. Micci's key target this week was Devon Baker, who caught 2 passes for 39 yards.

Baker was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Cougars bested the Panthers. The 5-foot-10 strong safety pulled down 1 interception and recorded 1 fumble.

Andrew Hall put up the best numbers in passing as Shawn Mitchell's team topped Mitchell. He finished with 1 completions for 13 yards and 1 touchdown.

Coronado's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cougars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Joah Smith has thrown for 944 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Sam Smith has 24 catches for 373 yards.

At the moment, the Thunder are in second, while Woodland Park is in third.

Discovery Canyon led the league in scoring this week by notching 50 points on Archie Malloy's team. Hall ran for 42 yards in the win.
