Recap: Centerville Elks vs. St. Ignatius Wildcats

On Saturday, the Centerville Elks faced the St. Ignatius Wildcats in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Centerville fell just short of St. Ignatius by a score of 94-92. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Sunday (59), Centerville still had to take the loss.

Quinn Woidke continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for St. Ignatius, scoring 27 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Woidke has scored all season. Damon Friery was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds.

Centerville's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for St. Ignatius, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

Centerville will take on Newman at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Newman is ranked 24th in Louisiana, while Centerville is ranked 14th in Ohio). St. Ignatius won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Oak Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on January 14th. Oak Ridge has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,377 points over their last 17 contests.
