Softball Recap: Somerset Beats Pleasanton for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Somerset entered their tilt with Pleasanton on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 7-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in March.

Madison Pacheco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Izabella Sanchez was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Kourtney Rios, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Sanchez wasn't the only one making solid contact: Somerset kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.

Somerset pushed their record up to 14-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Pleasanton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-13-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Somerset is set to challenge their familiar foe Devine at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 4.1, the Warhorses 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Pleasanton will square off against rival Pearsall at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
