Softball Recap: East Duplin Comes Up Short

After flying high against Kinston last Tuesday, East Duplin came back down to earth. The East Duplin Panthers fell just short of the Richlands Wildcats by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost six in a row.

East Duplin now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Richlands, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Duplin will head out to square off against Wallace-Rose Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wallace-Rose Hill has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.5 runs per game on average), something East Duplin will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Richlands, they will challenge Swansboro at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Swansboro is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
