Basketball Recap: Gilmer Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Gilmer can now relate to. They came up short against the Fayette County Tigers on Friday, falling 57-37. The game was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly the Bobcats struggled afterwards.

Fayette County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Deyla Mccoy led the charge by putting up 15 points. Another player making a difference was Megan Ohonde, who posted 13 points and seven boards.

Gilmer has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-12 record this season. Fayette County pushed their record up to 23-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Gilmer does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fayette County, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers take on the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Luella knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Fayette County likes a good challenge.
