Softball Game Preview: Forks Spartans vs. Ilwaco Fishermen

Forks has gone a perfect 8-0 against Ilwaco recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Spartans will host the Fishermen at 3:00 p.m. Forks has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with six straight defeats, while Ilwaco will come in with six straight wins.

On Saturday, Forks came up short against Coupeville and fell 6-2.

Bailey Johnson put in work while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Johnson was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Gaydeski, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, Ilwaco got the win against Naselle on Thursday by a conclusive 12-5. The Fishermen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

Ilwaco's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4-1. As for Forks, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Everything went Forks' way against Ilwaco in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Forks made off with a 15-2 win. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Fishermen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
