Volleyball Recap: Pioneer Comes Up Short

Pioneer lost against West Lafayette back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Panthers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Devils. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Pioneer was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made West Lafayette work for it, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 23-25, 26-24, 25-9.

Laylah Demond paced Pioneer's offense, picking up 12 kills. Demond got some help from Lois Layer and her 15 assists. Averi Layer controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Pioneer's loss dropped their record down to 17-14. As for West Lafayette, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-9.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Pioneer will take on North White at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Lafayette, they will face off against Peru at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
