Baseball Recap: Houston Academy Drops Season-High Score on Pike County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Houston Academy). They never let the Pike County Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Raiders as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Cooper Powell looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Houston Academy got a massive performance out of Gabe Glover, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Ty Morris was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Houston Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Pike County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Houston Academy will face off against Long at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pike County, they will head out on the road to challenge Elba at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pike County has given up an average of 14.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
