The Deer Creek-Mackinaw Chiefs are taking a road trip to square off against the Limestone Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Deer Creek-Mackinaw will be strutting in after a win while Limestone will be coming in after a loss.
Deer Creek-Mackinaw lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Fieldcrest, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's game. The Chiefs never let the Knights get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Not much got past Lucas Holly, who gave up just a hit to keep Fieldcrest off the board. Holly also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Deer Creek-Mackinaw is 4-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-5 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Parker Eggenberger, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Drew Swadinsky, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Deer Creek-Mackinaw was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Limestone started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Dunlap. They fell 11-6 to the Eagles on Monday. The Rockets haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Alec Williams was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Gavin Kleist was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
The win got Deer Creek-Mackinaw back to even at 6-6. As for Limestone, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Deer Creek-Mackinaw has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Limestone struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Deer Creek-Mackinaw might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Limestone in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Chiefs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
