Basketball Game Preview: Selkirk Rangers vs. Columbia Lions

The Selkirk Rangers and the Columbia Lions will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Friday, Selkirk was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 63-62 to Valley Christian. The loss continues a trend for the Rangers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Columbia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 73-32 loss at the hands of Cusick. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 371st, while the Panthers are ranked 164th).

Columbia's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Selkirk, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Selkirk took a serious blow against Columbia in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 65-32. Can Selkirk avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
