Basketball Game Preview: Port Neches-Groves Indians vs. Barbers Hill Eagles

Port Neches-Groves is 2-8 against Barbers Hill since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Port Neches-Groves Indians will challenge the Barbers Hill Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Friday, Port Neches-Groves didn't have quite enough to beat Port Arthur Memorial and fell 55-53. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 412th, while the Titans are ranked 103rd).

Meanwhile, Barbers Hill was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 50-46 to Beaumont United. The Eagles have struggled against the Timberwolves recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Port Neches-Groves' loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Barbers Hill, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 15-7.

Port Neches-Groves came up short against Barbers Hill in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 68-60. Can Port Neches-Groves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
