Baseball Recap: Buckhannon-Upshur Comes Up Short

Buckhannon-Upshur extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 7-13 in the process. They lost 9-0 to the Morgantown Mohigans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mohigans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 last Tuesday.

As for Morgantown, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.

For Morgantown's part, Vincent Aloi made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Aloi has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 12 contests.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Boggs, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Ryan Nipper was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI.

Coming up, Buckhannon-Upshur will face off against University at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Buccaneers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Morgantown, they will take on Bridgeport at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
