Softball Game Preview: McDonogh Eagles vs. Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers

The McDonogh Eagles will square off against the Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, McDonogh didn't have quite enough to beat John Carroll and fell 4-3. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Spalding waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Magic as they made off with a 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Cessi Prince looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Taylor Codi was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Rowley, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Archbishop Spalding's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for McDonogh, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
