Softball Recap: Organ Mountain Continues Home Dominance on Friday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cibola, Organ Mountain was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Deming Wildcats. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Hannah Justus was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Siennah Otero and Caillin Reyes did most of the damage at the plate: Otero scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Reyes scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Reyes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zaima Delgado, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Organ Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Organ Mountain pushed their record up to 6-3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Deming, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Organ Mountain will venture away from home to square off against Gadsden at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Organ Mountain will need to watch out since Gadsden has now posted at least ten runs in their last four games. As for Deming, they will square off against Socorro at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
