Softball Preview: CORE Butte Lynx vs. Burney Raiders
The CORE Butte Lynx will head out to take on the Burney Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
CORE Butte fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Los Molinos on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 6-5.
Meanwhile, Burney had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven last Friday. They never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. The contest marked the Raiders' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Mia Perez was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
