Preview: Harrison Raiders vs. Anderson Indians
The Harrison Raiders and the Anderson Indians will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Harrison is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
Last Saturday, Harrison beat Benton Central 57-45. The victory was just what Harrison needed coming off of a 76-42 defeat in their prior match.
Harrison's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Malachi King led the charge by scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Smith, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Anderson unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 58-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hamilton Southeastern.
Despite the defeat, Anderson had strong showings from Damien King, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, and Javon Warfield, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. Warfield continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Harrison's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Anderson, their loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-3.
Harrison suffered a grim 77-53 defeat to Anderson in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Harrison, Ahmere Carson (who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
