Basketball Game Preview: Timpview Thunderbirds vs. Wasatch Wasps

Timpview and Wasatch are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Timpview Thunderbirds will square off against the Wasatch Wasps at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Timpview took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 56-37 victory over Spanish Fork. Given the Thunderbirds' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Dons are ranked 85th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Wasatch was able to grind out a solid win over Maple Mountain on Tuesday, taking the game 71-60. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Wasps were down 37-23 in the second quarter.

Timpview's record now sits at 11-7. As for Wasatch, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.

Timpview came up short against Wasatch in their previous matchup on January 10th, falling 72-66. Can Timpview avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
