Basketball Game Preview: Greenwood Wildcats vs. Linville Hill Warriors

The Greenwood Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Linville Hill Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Greenwood came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were outmatched by Halifax and fell 64-36. While losing is never fun, Greenwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 377th, while Halifax is ranked 184th).

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Linville Hill had no problem doing just that on Friday. They put the hurt on Coventry Christian with a sharp 51-31 win. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Linville Hill's win came from a few key players Greenwood will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Drew Tibbins, who posted 14 points and six assists. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephen Smucker, who scored ten points.

Linville Hill is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-2 record this season. As for Greenwood, their loss dropped their record down to 18-6.

Greenwood ended up a good deal behind Linville Hill when the teams last played back in February of 2024, losing 61-46.
