Football Recap: Florence Christian Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Florence Christian can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Pinewood Prep Panthers and fell 45-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Eagles have suffered since November 8, 2024.

Riley Minton threw for 102 yards on ten of 21 attempts. Andrew Miller was his top target, picking up 61 receiving yards.

Pinewood Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grayson Salego, who rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. That's the most rushing yards Salego has posted since back in August. Lavoris Lucas was another key player, gaining 82 total yards and three touchdowns.

With the defeat, Florence Christian broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-3. As for Pinewood Prep, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-3.

Florence Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pinewood Prep, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 55-13 victory against Wilson Hall on the 22nd.
