Champion had lost six straight, but after bumping their record up to 3-7 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They skirted past the Newton Falls Tigers 27-24. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Golden Flashes also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.
As for Newton Falls, their record is now 0-10. On the bright side, the 24- point effort marked their highest-scoring contest to date.
When it comes to explaining why Newton Falls lost, don't look at Chace Clonch. Despite the final result, he rushed for 121 yards and one TD on only 15 carries, and also threw for 205 yards and a pair of touchdowns. A healthy portion of that aerial production (113 yards to be exact) went to Phil Davis.
