AISA AAA Region 1 recap September 10, 2013
Glenwood moved up to 265 from 294 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AISA AAA Region 1. The Gators climbed the ranks as a result of besting Evangel Christian Academy 44-13.
Ward Military Academy lost to Tuscaloosa Academy 52-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Gavin Sumrall put up the best numbers in passing as Kingwood Christian fell to Bessemer Academy. He finished with 17 completions for 135 yards. Sumrall's favorite target this week was C'Yontai Lewis, who caught 3 passes for 47 yards.
Thomas DeGrange was the best running back in the league this week. In 10 carries, he ran for 252 yards as Lee-Scott Academy beat Pike Liberal Arts. Chase Aldridge also contributed to the rushing game with 56 yards on the ground.

DeGrange was a passing and rushing force as the Warriors bested the Patriots. DeGrange's key target this week was Knight, who caught 2 passes for 51 yards.
Knight was the best receiver in the league this week as Lee-Scott Academy defeated Pike Liberal Arts.

Kingwood Christian's Sumrall and Haynes have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading AISA AAA Region 1 in both passing and receiving yards. Sumrall has thrown for 655 yards this season, while Haynes has 17 catches for 296 yards. The Warriors' DeGrange leads the league in rushing yards with 362.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Tuscaloosa Academy takes on second place Macon-East Montgomery Academy. The Knights defeated the Fighting Rangers last week, while Macon-East Montgomery Academy bested Ashford Academy.
Tuscaloosa Academy led the league in scoring this week by notching 52 points on Ward Military Academy.
