Basketball Recap: New Hanover Piles Up the Points Against Harrells Christian Academy

New Hanover had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They claimed a resounding 85-50 win over the Harrells Christian Academy Crusaders.

Kellum Brown had an outrageously good game as he shot 6-for-9 from downtown and dropped a double-double with 35 points and 11 boards. What's more, he posted three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ny'Zion Ballard, who shot 67% from the field on his way to 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

New Hanover was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harrells Christian Academy only racked up eight.

When it comes to explaining why Harrells Christian Academy lost, don't look at Antonio McKoy. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points and eight boards. The contest was McKoy's 21st in a row with at least 17 points. Demetrius Jones was another key player, putting up ten points.

New Hanover wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 80-66 defeat against Chambers on the 22nd. As for Harrells Christian Academy, they have also already played their next game, a 62-50 victory against Wilmington Christian Academy on the 24th.
