Softball Recap: Lancaster Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Lancaster extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping them up to 8-5. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Orchard Park Quakers. Considering the Redskins have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Matthews Maddy tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Leah Dowling and Isabella DiMino did most of the damage at the plate: Dowling went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while DiMino went 1-for-2 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave DiMino a new career-high. Ava Konieczny was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Lancaster was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

As for Orchard Park, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3. The game marked their lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

On Orchard Park's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Hernandez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lancaster will take on Our Lady of Mercy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Orchard Park, they will host North Tonawanda at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
