Softball Recap: Wendell Has No Trouble Against Firth

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gooding, Wendell was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the Firth Cougars 14-4.

Breanna Comstock was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 16 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6.2 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jace Olmos, who scored five runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Macie Bird was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

The win got Wendell back to even at 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wendell will challenge West Side at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Firth, they will head out to take on Payette at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Payette has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.5 runs per game on average), something Firth will no doubt try to take advantage of.
