Baseball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Rio Hondo's Winning Streak

Rio Hondo blew Kaufer out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Kaufer got their revenge. The Rio Hondo Bobcats fell just short of the Kaufer Seahawks by a score of 2-0. The Bobcats were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the four contests prior), but the Seahawks' pitcher proved too tough.

Adrian Betancourt was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February of 2024.

At the plate, Rio Hondo saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Juan Padilla, who went 2-for-3 with one double. The dominant performance gave Padilla a new career-high in hits.

Rio Hondo moved to 6-2 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.6 runs. As for Kaufer, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Rio Hondo didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-0 win against IDEA Quest College Prep on the 3rd. As for Kaufer, they have also already played their next matchup, a 5-1 victory against La Villa on the 28th.
