Joel Barlow and Brookfield are an even 4-4 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Falcons will head out to square off against the Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Joel Barlow is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Northwest Catholic on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Falcons took a blow against the Lions, falling 35-7. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Brookfield challenged Hand on Friday. The Bobcats were beaten by the Tigers 38-7. The Bobcats were down 31-0 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Joel Barlow will have to contain Tyler Buttendorf as he made an impact in Brookfield's last game. He rushed for 74 yards and one TD. Buttendorf didn't just play on offense: he also made six total tackles and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Having lost for the first time this season, Brookfield fell to 2-1. As for Joel Barlow, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Joel Barlow has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 195.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Brookfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 245.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Joel Barlow was dealt a bruising 27-0 loss at the hands of Brookfield when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Falcons, Michael Walters (who rushed for 118 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
