Volleyball Game Preview: Munster Mustangs vs. Hammond Central Wolves

After both having extra time off, the Munster Mustangs and the Hammond Central Wolves will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Munster had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Highland on Thursday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Trojans.

Munster was especially dominant in the second set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-12, 25-19.

Among those leading the charge was Leah Selin, who had six digs and three aces. Those three aces gave her a new career-high. Morgan Trotter also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Meanwhile, Hammond Central earned a 3-1 win over Lake Station Edison on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Fighting Eagles: they've now won five in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-16, 21-25, 25-18.

Munster's record is now 6-24-1. As for Hammond Central, their record now sits at 16-12.

Munster took their win against Hammond Central in their previous meeting back in October of 2023 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
