Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Southwest SD walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Monte Vista Monarchs 9-7. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now won four in a row.

Gabriella Borquez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Julianna Torres, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Southwest SD kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive games.

The victory got Southwest SD back to even at 13-13. As for Monte Vista, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 15-13 record.

Monte Vista didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-8 win against Mount Miguel on the 23rd. Hopefully Southwest SD paid attention to the Monarchs' contest: the next time they hit the field , they'll take on the Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
