Softball Recap: Amelia Academy Comes Up Short

Amelia Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 21 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-10 in the process. They came up short against the Kenston Forest Kavaliers, falling 23-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Kavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in March.

As for Kenston Forest, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-5. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Kenston Forest's part, Brooklyn Thomas made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Thomas has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Hayden Hudson (2029) was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Marshall, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Coming up, Amelia Academy will head out to square off against Brunswick Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Kenston Forest, they will be playing at home against Isle of Wight Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
