Softball Recap: Wednesday's Defeat Ends Bear River's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Bear River unfortunately witnessed the end of their 14-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Bountiful RedHawks by a score of 3-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Bears couldn't push the score so high this time.

Kate Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bear River saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Dougals, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Bear River's defeat dropped their record down to 21-2. As for Bountiful, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bear River will venture away from home to face off against Green Canyon at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.27 runs per game on average), something the Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bountiful, they will head out on the road to take on Grantsville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
