Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Family's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Cornerstone Family extended their winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Gabe Smith. The Saints blew past Chanute Christian, posting a 64-33 win for which the team can thank Smith, who went 7-for-12 en route to 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven steals. The matchup was his fifth in a row with at least 16 points.

Jaxon Griffith was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played.

Cornerstone Family's record is now 6-1. As for Chanute Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Cornerstone Family will face off against Waverly at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chanute Christian, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Newton (Home School) at 7:00 p.m. on February 7, 2026.
