Soccer Game Preview: St. Charles East vs. Lane Tech

The St. Charles East Fighting Saints will face off against the Lane Tech Champions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lane Tech will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: St. Charles East extended their winning streak to 14 on Tuesday. The Fighting Saints' defense stepped up to hand Lake Park a 9-0 shutout. Mya Leon was a massive factor in the win as she booted in four goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Lane Tech waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 6-1 win. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Lane Tech's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Lincoln Park are ranked 129th).

St. Charles East's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those ten games. As for Lane Tech, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1-2.
