Basketball Recap: The Pingry School Takes a Loss

The Pingry School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 64-41 to the Montgomery Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Big Blue can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Cougars are ranked 17th).

Despite the defeat, The Pingry School saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Neel Sappidi went 7 for 11 en route to 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sappidi has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Polanco, who posted seven points.

The Pingry School's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Montgomery, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

The Pingry School will square off against Newark Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. As for Montgomery, they will take on St. Rose in a tournament on Saturday.
