Softball Recap: McHenry Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Huntley, McHenry was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Cary-Grove Trojans. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Natalie Bender spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, McHenry let Danica McCarthy and Kendal Rogers run wild. McCarthy went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base, while Rogers went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI Rogers has posted over her last 12 matchups.

McHenry's victory bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Cary-Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-11.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. McHenry is set to face off against their familiar foe Dundee-Crown at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Cary-Grove will challenge rival Jacobs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
