Basketball Recap: Micah Huffman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Covenant Day over Marvin Ridge + How To Watch

Covenant Day was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 63-55 to the Marvin Ridge Mavericks. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mavericks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2019.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Micah Huffman, who went 6-for-15 to rack up 15 points and six rebounds. Dylan Thurman was another key player, shooting 60% from the field on his way to 16 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marvin Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matthew Rivlin, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 boards. Those 13 rebounds gave Rivlin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Smith, who went 5-for-12 en route to 18 points and six boards.

Covenant Day's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Marvin Ridge, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Covenant Day has already played their next contest, an 81-55 loss against Huss on the 29th. As for Marvin Ridge, they will venture away from home to take on Charlotte Country Day School at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mavericks' defense better be ready for this one: the Buccaneers have averaged an impressive 56 points per game this season.
