The Cordova Lancers will challenge the Valley Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Cordova won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Mesa Verde 15-14.
Cordova found their leader in underclassman Trey Wallace, who threw for 216 yards and a touchdown on only 19 passes, and also rushed for 50 yards and a touchdown.
Cordova wouldn't let Mesa Verde keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Cordova can thank Tai'Marr Tholmer-Johnson and Aayden Huson for forcing both of them. Tholmer-Johnson's also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble, making five total tackles (1.0 for loss), and defending two passes.
Meanwhile, Valley Christian had to kick off their season on the road last Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They secured a 33-28 W over Mira Loma.
