Baseball Recap: Bracken County Polar Bears vs. Bourbon County Colonels
Bracken County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bourbon County Colonels. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Polar Bears of the 5-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.
Noah Bachman was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Bachman wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cole Sharp, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Another was Caleb Emery, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Bracken County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Bourbon County, they moved to 3-20 with that win, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bracken County will welcome Lewis County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
