Basketball Recap: Mineral Wells Takes a Loss

Mineral Wells was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a blow against the Brownwood Lions, falling 57-25. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 45-23 on January 3rd.

Mineral Wells' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylee Newman, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 10 points.

Mineral Wells' loss dropped their record down to 15-13. As for Brownwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season.

Mineral Wells and Brownwood could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Mineral Wells will square off against Brock at 5:30 p.m. on Friday down 399 places (465 vs. 66). Similarly, Brownwood (ranked 243rd) will meet Glen Rose (ranked 17th) at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
