Basketball Recap: Lejeune Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Lejeune had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 0-3 to make it seven. They took a blow against the Lakewood Leopards, falling 65-26. The Devilpups were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-14.

When it comes to explaining why Lejeune lost, don't look at Madison McQueen. Despite the final result, she shot 57% from the field to rack up 19 points and three steals. McQueen's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 19 points. Alyssa Arce was another key player, putting up four points and 13 boards.

As for Lakewood, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 46 points this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lakewood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Areona Mckoy, who posted 15 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Mckoy has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 25 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Takiyah Carr, who went 6-for-13 on her way to 17 points in addition to five boards and three blocks.

Looking ahead, Lejeune will host Dixon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakewood, they are taking a road trip to face off against Clinton at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
