Basketball Recap: Abernathy's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Abernathy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They managed a 48-43 win over the Tulia Hornets. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 65-53 last Tuesday.

Tulia's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julius Johnson, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 12 points. Johnson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Nic Carrasco was another key player, going 5 for 10 on his way to 11 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Abernathy now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Tulia, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.

Abernathy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 71-45 defeat against Slaton on the 27th. Tulia has also already played their next contest, a 72-51 loss against Morton on the 28th.
