Softball Recap: Keystone Oaks Takes a Loss

Keystone Oaks was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 8-1 to the Charleroi Cougars, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Golden Eagles of the 9-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

Kennadi Smith was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Smith was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Smith wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kylie Stahl, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Keystone Oaks' loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Charleroi, their record now sits at 5-6.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Keystone Oaks will challenge rival Steel Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Charleroi is set to take on their familiar foe South Park at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
