Basketball Recap: Jaylen Anderson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Northampton over Lancaster

Northampton and Lancaster squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Northampton had to settle for second. They took a 55-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lancaster Red Devils. The contest marked the Yellowjackets' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Northampton lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jaylen Anderson, who posted 12 points and three steals. Jasheem Collins was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Even though they lost, Northampton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Northampton's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Lancaster, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7.

Northampton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lancaster, they will challenge Middlesex at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Middlesex will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Lancaster surely won't give up without a fight.
