Basketball Recap: Princeton's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Princeton came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Lakota West Firebirds with a sharp 70-49 victory. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.

Princeton found their leader in freshman Erin Thomas, who went 12 of 15 on her way to 22 points and four steals. Those 22 points gave Thomas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mari Gerton, who posted 15 points and four steals.

Princeton is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.1 points per game. As for Lakota West, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.

Princeton and Lakota West should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Princeton will square off against Oak Hills at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday up 125 places (38 vs. 163). Princeton will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Similarly, Lakota West (ranked 104th) will meet Colerain (ranked 412th) at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Princeton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.3 points per game this season.
