Softball Recap: Ripley Wins Going Away Against Pine Grove

Ripley barely beat Pine Grove the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Ripley blew past Pine Grove 11-1 on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Brinson Gay made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Allyson Christmas, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Emma Edwards was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Ripley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .542. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Ripley pushed their record up to 6-12 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Pine Grove, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-8.

Coming up, Ripley will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Falkner at 2:30 p.m. As for Pine Grove, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Pine Grove Panthers duke it out with Walnut Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
