Softball Recap: Masuk Makes It 20 in a Row on the Road

North Branford typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Masuk proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Thunderbirds 11-1. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Julia Bacoulis made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Grace Ely and Josie Lieto did most of the damage at the plate: Ely went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Lieto went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Lieto has launched this season. Alyssa Castillo was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Masuk kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.

Masuk pushed their record up to 13-1-1 with the win, which was their 20th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for North Branford, their loss dropped their record down to 14-1.

Masuk didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-2 victory against Bunnell on the 14th. As for North Branford, they have also already played their next matchup, a 5-3 win against Norwich Free Academy on the 15th.
