Baseball Game Preview: Tarpon Springs Spongers vs. Keswick Christian Crusaders

Tarpon Springs hasn't had much luck against Keswick Christian recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Tarpon Springs Spongers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Keswick Christian Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.

Tarpon Springs' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Tenoroc as Tarpon Springs made off with a 15-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spongers.

Alex Finch looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dereck Tyler, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Parker Rochkind, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Keswick Christian got the win against Sarasota Military Academy on Tuesday by a conclusive 10-0.

Landon Wilson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stolen at least one in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Jackson Sullivan was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Tarpon Springs' victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Keswick Christian, their win bumped their record up to an identical 2-0.
